We’re Hiring: Studio Manager at Lake Superior Art Glass
Lake Superior Art Glass is looking for a dedicated and passionate Studio Manager to oversee the heart of our operation—our glassblowing studio! If you have a deep appreciation for glass art, thrive in a hands-on leadership role, and are excited about keeping a creative space running smoothly, this might be the perfect opportunity for you.
What’s This Role All About?
The Studio Manager is the backbone of our glass studio, ensuring everything operates efficiently so that artists can focus on creating stunning glass art. From overseeing production and artist support to maintaining equipment and safety standards, this role is essential in keeping our studio a thriving and inspiring place.
What You’ll Do
If you love a fast-paced environment and keeping all the moving pieces in order, you’ll enjoy this role. Some of your key responsibilities include:
- Running the show: Oversee daily studio operations, including glassblowing processes, production schedules, and artist coordination.
- Keeping things safe & functional: Maintain and repair equipment, manage inventory, and enforce safety protocols.
- Supporting artists: Ensure they have the materials, tools, and technical support needed to create their work.
- Scheduling & hiring: Manage studio staffing, handle shift scheduling, and oversee hiring and training for new team members.
- Collaborating with leadership: Work with the Office Manager and Director of Operations to oversee wholesale orders, studio policies, and production workflows.
- Leading with purpose: Conduct regular team meetings, enforce standard operating procedures, and foster a positive, professional work environment.
Who We’re Looking For
We’re looking for someone with:
- Experience in studio management (glassblowing or other fine arts preferred).
- A solid understanding of glass techniques—both hot and cold working knowledge is a huge plus.
- Strong organizational and leadership skills to keep things running smoothly.
- A calm and energetic disposition—the studio can be fast-paced, and we need someone who can handle challenges with a cool head.
- Comfort with public speaking—you may be working around customers or speaking to groups.
- A hands-on attitude—welding and equipment repair experience is a bonus!
This role is physically demanding, so the ability to lift 50 lbs. minimum is required. A four-year degree is preferred but not required if you have equivalent experience.
