1.Take A Class at Lake Superior Art Glass

Lake Superior Art Glass is a complete gallery and has both a Flamework Studio and a Hot Shop. In our studio classes, you can take a 60-90-minute course and learn some of the basic skills of glassblowing. classes range from a pendant kids class or wine goblet class in our Flamework Studio to an ornament class or pendant class in our Hot Shop Studio. We have classes for students as young as the age of 4, so the whole family can participate.

2.Explore Canal Park and The Lift Bridge 

With countless shops in Canal Park, you can spend hours touring stores and grabbing a bite to eat in one of the multiple restaurants like Green Mill or the Canal Park Brewery. After exploring Canal Park you can treat yourself to a coffee and take the family down to the Lift Bridge. 

The Lift Bridge raises for up to 900 ships annually and is a sight to see in action. In the spring ships will start traveling the Lake after the ice breaks, so depending on when you visit you may be able to see one of the first ships of the season! 

 

3. Hike Enger Tower

Enger Tower sits on top of the hill in Duluth and is a beautiful park to visit in any season. The tower is 80 feet tall with 105 steps to the top, but the trek is worth the beautiful 360 degrees panoramic view from the top. The spring breeze from Lake Superior can be chilly, so make sure to dress in layers! 

 

4. Explore The Great Lakes Aquarium 

When looking for a family fun activity, the Great Lakes Aquarium makes for a wonderful option! With two levels of informational exhibits, you can see a range of sea creatures and even some furry friends like their two resident otters, possums, a skunk, and even a bald eagle. The Great Lakes Aquarium is hands-on and features play spaces and multiple exhibits that allow touching, like their sturgeon petting tank. 

 

5. Tour Glensheen Mansion

Glensheen Mansion, the Historic Congdon Estate, is a great museum to spend up to two hours touring. The expansive grounds offer tours and include things for all ages like their eye-spy sheet for the young ones. Learn the history of Duluth and the estate!
