The Pumpkin Hunt Returns!

🎃The Pumpkin Hunt Returns!🎃

🍂 Join us on October 10th for a Pumpkin Hunt at the Downtown Duluth Public Library!

IT’S BACK! Our highly anticipated Pumpkin Hunt is returning once again and this time with a fun twist. On October 10th at 10am, we’ll be at the Downtown Duluth Public Library with our tiny Pumpkin Candy Kisses hidden all around as part of the Library Foundation's National Banned Books Week celebration. Since the hints will be more geared towards adults, we will have a fall-themed treasure box for kids to win prizes and get in on the fun! Our gallery will also be joining in the party by holding a raffle for a MEGA PUMPKIN that anyone can enter to win.

Here’s how it will all work. Starting at 10am on October 10th, explore the library following hints leading to some of the most commonly banned or challenged stories in libraries across the country for a special ticket that can be redeemed for your very own Pumpkin Candy Kiss (PLEASE NOTE: Not all tickets will be found within books. Search for other versions or adaptations to find the prize 😉). At the same time, stop on in our gallery in Canal Park to enter into a raffle to win a MEGA PUMPKIN! Anyone can enter and make sure you get in before we draw the winner at 5pm on October 10th.

Some ground rules:

  1. One Pumpkin per Person. We want everyone to have a chance to find a pumpkin candy kiss, so please limit yourself to one pumpkin per group. Once you’ve found a pumpkin, kindly step out of the hunt and come into the gallery to enter into the giveaway!

  2. Leave No Trace. If you take a book or any other item from the shelf to look inside for a Pumpkin Ticket, please put it back exactly where you found it. The Library Foundation is being a gracious host to us and we do not want to leave a mess around the library!

  3. Respect Other Participants. This is a family friendly event, so please be courteous to other participants. No running, pushing, or taking Pumpkin Tickets from others.

  4. Search Appropriate Areas. All Pumpkin Tickets will be hidden in items (remember that not all tickets will be within books!) in publicly accessible areas. Do not venture in staff only areas during the hunt!

  5. The Search Starts at 10 AM. The library will open its doors at its regular opening time at 10am on October 10th and that is when the hunt will begin.

  6. Social Media Sharing. We heartily encourage you to share any pictures and videos you take during your search on social media! Use the hashtag #pumpkinhunt2026 and tag us to show off your discoveries.

  7. Have Fun! This event is all about enjoying the fall season, spending time together, and appreciating legendary stories. Have fun, be safe, and enjoy the search!
