The aptly named Cherry Glass studio and gallery is located in Cherry, MN on the Iron Range. Scot Bennett and his wife, Ryan Bennett, work together in the studio making surreal glass art. From castles to glass straws to fantasy sculptures, Cherry Glass specializes in electroplating glass and other objects with copper. Much of their electroplated work incorporates real insects and critters that they find out in the northland woods. Don’t worry, they only use specimens that have already died of natural causes.
The images above show an actual spider that has been electroplated to a glass wand with copper. They often incorporate butterflies with beautiful effect and some of their newer art includes an electroplated rattlesnake.
